Mystery Blood Sugar Meter Bleeping!

Yesterday and today my Glucolab meter before putting in the strip made not just the initial bleep, a "minute" later, two/three bleeps! Has anyone else experienced this and if so what could be the reason?
 
Error? Low battery?

Sometimes my meter beeps in protest if I put a strip in wrongly.
 
Thanks Azure. I think I will carry a spare battery when I go to Spain next week, just in case. (Now where did I put it?)
 
Low temperature? Mine got very fussy when I tested for driving at -4 the other day.
