It has been been suggested that if you have diabetes you must wear a condom when having sex, is this true ? Not in a promiscous way but a couple who have been together a while and I have diabetes..
Well my girlfriend (been together 4 years now ) was told by a friend that i was putting her at risk and that all diabetics should always wear condoms ! This has all come about cos of the Thrush issues in my other posts..
Well it is not true Mike. Non diabetics catch thrush too and as I said in your post about thrush, abstain and both get tested rather than keep passing it backwards and forwards. This would be sensible advice for non diabetics too.
Perhaps this so called friend needs to know that we are not aliens and we get similar issues to the rest of the population. Does she also think that we shouldn't procreate perhaps as wearing a condom at all times means no babies either.
Seems like this friend needs some educating.
This is just a load of rubbish as Catherine has said.
My kids wouldn't be around if I had listened to that ridiculous advice. Frankly the 'friend' hasn't a clue what they are talking about.
A condom is used to protect a woman from pregnancy and to prevent the transmission of STI's. Thrush etc can be a problem for anyone, Diabetic or not and it has no relevance whatsoever. If you or your partner has Thrush then you just abstain, that's all. Simple's
Mike
Wherever did you find such a silly myth? What did you think was the purpose of wearing a condom?
Diabetes is NOT a sexually transmitted disease.
Condoms are quite effective contraceptives, so unless you are wanting babies, their use might be beneficial.

      Oh, I haven't had such a good larff in a long while. My daughter would certainly not have been born if wearing a condom was obligatory. Where do these ideas come from???
I don't allways as my girl friend was on the pill but I have heard something about thrush, im not too sure but aparently something to do with urine can cause itching :?
