Can anyone decipher the science here?

I’ve seen this posted a few times the last few days on social media

I have absolutely no idea what they’re going on about. And how do you track NADPH???

NADPH = Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (according to wikipedia)

I think it's long on big words and short on any real explanation. Bluster, in my book. Probably goes down a storm on social media. I am quite prepared to accept that NADPH is essential for life. So are many things. And, if this is a real issue for those of us on keto or vlc, given my extremely reduced glucose intake this past five plus years, why am I not dead?

But OK - if glucose is needed to make NADPH (I don't know if this is true or not, let's say it is) then it can be made from the glucose synthesised by the liver via gluconeogenesis or glycogenolysis. That's every bit as much "real" glucose as the glucose made from carb in food. The graphic attached (from Bilous and Donnelly, who don't mention NADPH at all) shows it clearly.

And that would explain why I'm still alive.

It’s certainly not clear how much is required or how much glucose is required to make that amount. Kind of crucial questions I think

They are. In addition, I don't like the tone. It's a kind of "I'm so right that unless you agree with me I'm not going to bother to explain or argue" style which might impress teenagers, I wouldn't know.

But I have been introduced to the concept of "terrain medicine" which was a new one on me. It seems to be some sort of naturopath idea. I'm sure there might be some things I wouldn't disagree with.
