Good morning. I don't know if this Diabetes related or low carb related. I have had red bands across the tops of my nails for ages but in the past week the section between the line and the top of the nail has migrated into the red section in some cases giving less than half the nail still attached and an irregular line. It looks very strange and if I cut my nails to their usual length they would be lower than the top of my finger. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Could well be psoriasis as it can affect nails even if there are no skin symptoms elsewhere. It's quite common for psoriasis and diabetes (of either type) to occur together.

If you check for images of psoriatic nails, you might get some idea if your nails look similar.

Thank you for that. I had a look and my nails do look like that. Looks like a trip to the practice nurse is in order.
