Type of diabetes

Since I have been diagnosed with type 2 I have noticed that my finger and toe nails have been growing a lot quicker,is this the case for a lot of people?
 
That is unusual, can't think of a reason why diabetes would make the nails grow quicker
 
The only thing I've noticed is that my nails are a lot stronger since doing LCHF.
