Type 1
just been diagnosed 1year ago type1 am 54 years old have been on naproxen for 20 years for shoulder knee complaints and spur on heal doctors took me off them soon as diagnosed now all pains back badly anyone else have this

I use naproxen without a problem, so you need to see your GP and ask why you have been taken off of the medication and also discuss an alternative if it's not reinstated.

Naproxen cannot be taken by diabetics. I was given Naproxen for hip pain and ended up with sever pneumonia and now have heart problems which could have been caused by it.

I was prescribed Naproxen for arthritis in my knee and it kept me on my feet through an extremely worrying couple of years. It caused me no problems. I agree that you need to ask why it has been stopped and perhaps discuss alternatives.

I was on it for a couple of weeks due to sciatica. T1 for 19 years, 31 years old. Didn't cause me any issues.

I was on naproxen for pain related to osteo arthritis but my doctor took me off them immediately and gave me a cream to use which is safer but said not to use regular. Arthritis pain Deffo worse especially in my knee.
Hate being diabetic

naproxin is just a better for your stomach ibuprofen there is no reason it should be more dangerous for diabetics!

Before taking this medicine
Naproxen can increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term or take high doses, or if you have heart disease. Even people without heart disease or risk factors could have a stroke or heart attack while taking this medicine.

Do not use this medicine just before or after heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

Naproxen may also cause stomach or intestinal bleeding, which can be fatal. These conditions can occur without warning while you are using naproxen, especially in older adults.

You should not use naproxen if you are allergic to it, or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use this medicine if you have:

  • heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or if you smoke;

  • a history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot;

  • a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding;

  • asthma;

  • liver or kidney disease; or

  • fluid retention.
Taking naproxen during the last 3 months of pregnancy may harm the unborn baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are pregnant.

Naproxen can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

Naproxen is not approved for use by anyone younger than 2 years old. Do not give this medicine to a child without medical advice.

Nuff said go talk to your doctor pronto.
I too think I'm now being investigated by cardiologist due to breathlessness, chest pains and swollen abdomen because of naproxen. I'm not saying naproxen has caused my problem but may have just exaggerated the heart failure symptoms. Some may say at least I'm now being helped, it can go undetected for years.
Naproxen may indirectly have saved my life?
Of course I was taken straight off it after suspected heart attack.

Naproxen was in the news recently for causing heart problems for over 65yr olds. As I told my mum who is 68 and been on naproxen for years.
