Am I aloud to have naps?

I was having a good day with my blood sugar today, but then me and my girlfriend came home and had a nap in my bed. I woke up a few hours later and my sugar was 25!!

What is the recommended time for me to have naps?

Do I need insulin for my naps?

Thank you for everyone who helps :chicken:

No you don't need insulin for naps, when we sleep/fast our basal insulin keeps things ticking over.

Perhaps you missed a bolus dose or miscalculated the carbs in your previous meal.

I always find my sugar drops after a nap/lie in (it did when I was on insulin pens) maybe I'm an active sleeper!!!

People with type 1 are strictly forbidden from taking naps.

It is only acceptable to: sleep, daydream, siesta, or doze off.

Side note: Catnaps are allowed, but only on Wednesdays.

Admittedly, my sarcasm can be a bit subtle at times, but I didn't think there was any possible way for my previous post to be taken seriously....apparently, I was wrong. You must be awfully fun at parties.

LOL that had me in stitches

Hiya, are you sure it's the nap that's lowering your blood sugar, and not the insulin you had before hand? I would have thought a nap wouldnt really have much independent impact on blood sugar (I'm just guessing, but I would have thought you would have to be asleep for well over two hours and into REM to get a liver dump, which might raise blood sugar & two hours of doing nothing - excluding sleep martial arts! - shouldn't really drop you, unless your basal is a bit over enthusiastic).

For OP, I'm going to suggest it's unlikely the nap raised your blood sugar, it's more likely it was on the rise & it was the hyper that was making you need an afternoon nap. God knows, I'm basically asleep on my feet if my blood sugar is going up to the 20s!
