I'm sure I read somewhere that if you're a member of one you can park free in the other's car parks, but after looking at both their websites I can;'t find anything about it. Anyone know anything?

It's some years since we were a member of the National Trust but I don't recall being allowed to park for free in English Heritage car parks, perhaps if you give them a ring they will give you a definite answer.

I am NT , I have only ever used their car parks ....
I have been told they have introduced some new concessions for places in London ....emailed them , they should come in the post ...no idea yet ..x

There are certainly some places where NT and EH have reciprocal agreements... Stonehenge is one. Stonehenge is EH, but NT members can park free, and I think the entrance fee is reduced, or waived, too. But I don't think its a blanket agreement everywhere.

National Trust covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland and has reciprocal arrangments with National Trust for Scotland. Not Cambridge Past Present and Future, which used to be called Cambridge Preservation Society - people often claimed NT membership should entitle them to free parking at Wandlebury Country Park in the many years I worked there as an Assistant Ranger.

Thank you all, looks like I was mistaken. I was interested in EH as it's only £39 if you're 60 and over (the first concession I've found since turning 60, seeing as I now won't be officially 'retired' till I'm 66!). You only get a reduced membership with NT if you've been with them for 5 years or more.
I'm noy interested in the properties, castles etc, I only thought about membership for parking as Devon/Cornwall has a lot of NT parking for woods, parkland etc.

If I remember I will ask my mate Dave the Coalie (as opposed to Little Dave, Dave the Verger, Dave the Post, Dave the TB - thats Town Brewery- or Dave the Co op) as he's a member of NT. I don't really go to these places to bother with membership, and most of the excursions with the retirement association I go on are NT or EH anyway and entry is included in the trip. :)

No Big Dave? ;)

I can get free chips at lunchtimes in the local chippy -n just ask for senior chips! That's the only concession I get! :(

Fat lot of good for a diabetic! :grumpy:
Quite! I saw Coalie Dave last night and he's with NT and he said that so far he's never had to pay when visiting an EH site, but maybe he's not been to one where there's a paying car park. :)

I've remembered when I heard about the free parking now, it was at Avebury and Stonehenge, which is run by both NT and EH, so all members get free parking! Or at least they did a few years ago, wouldn't be surprised if it's changed.
