I've been taking metformin since being diagnosed about 14 weeks ago. Been increasing from 1 a day and now on 3 a day, 2 in the am and 1 in the pm. Last 2-3 weeks I have been feeling nausea on and off, so I changed to slow release version which I have been on for the last week now. I still feel bouts of nausea and wondering if this is normal? I'm reluctant to change the meds as they are working well (apart from the nausea, if it is related).

I have never had any side affects from metformin, but some members have had nausea but from what I know that feeling should soon wear off

Thanks! I hope so as the nausea has come on 10 weeks after I started taking it. I thought the nausea would have come form the beginning and then started to wear off.

Hi. Some people never get used to any form of Metformin and 10 weeks is too long to suffer. Metformin helps but isn't a miracle cure so I would discuss with the GP stopping it and initially relying just on a reduced carb diet. Hopefully the right diet will do the job.
