Nearly A Week In.. Some Observations

I was diagnosed November 2017 with an HbA1c number of 122. Only 5 months later I got my HbA1c down to 35.

I was put on 4 X Metformin. However, if you read The Diabetes Code by Jason Fung, he says that Metformin takes the glucose out of the blood, where it can be seen (by HbA1c) and puts it into your organs, where it can't be seen.

Yesterday, I have reduced my Metformin by one tablet. I will continue to watch my numbers and if I feel comfortable, will reduce further.

Morning, I have also read Diabetes Code and found the contents most informative and much knowledge to use as a tool on many areas, excellent book, yet others may disagree? I take liberty if I may to attach link of video of Dr. Fungs perfect Treatment, eloquently and simply explained as it basically goes hand in hand with contents within his book also and as you mention you have read his book, you may/may not find the video of interest and or gain further knowledge?

Moggely, thank you so much for those kind words, an so lovely to hear all or any info, you are interested in, its all about raising awareness and sharing info whether appreciated or not to others, so pleased you have found some benefit even though fact I am not a Doc which is the case, the info I have searched have been from reliable reputable sources, even contacted the World health organisation, info from their website, Mayo Clinic, reliable Diabetes sources, in Australia, New Zealand and other. Two years of indepth searches were due to lack of information provided to myself by my Doctors here in Mallorca, it has been a journey of shock, bewilderment, positive findings and not so positive overall.

I have taken all on board with a very open mind, being a retired lawyer, and simply looked at the final picture, finally decided to go with knowledge tools found, along with my inner gut feelings and common sense. As it all really is quite confusing for us all, sadly, the more I learn the more skeptical with great regret I say, and lack of trust and confidence in the system lets say on many areas, I try to input on positive and as near facts as I understand possible, whether one wants to be interested or throw in the bin thats fine, all intentions are aimed to input all or any personal experiences, I feel and this will not be liked by many to read but I am coming to feel Diabetes is a big business and that is frightening, that is my pure personal outlook taken from all searches obtained.

Again, thank you for your comments, and hope anything put forth may prove helpful, interesting, useful and or gives room for thought to ask your doctor or team, that perhaps the area of question asked may not have been explained or provided, its all about gaining as much knowledge as possible in the best interests of ourselves and own bodies.

Have a lovely day.

PS forgot to mention info I have obtained from this forum and my own searches has allowed myself to put forward areas of doubt and directly asked my Doctor, for example, referring to Dr. Fungs information, Treatment for Diabetes 2 should be more focused on the cause Insulin Resistance and not the sugars which are merely a symptom of the Cause. I gave my Doctor the book Diabetes Code and he was incredibly impressed re contents therein,

"I openly asked him to please comment inform honestly, did he feel Diabetes 2 overall is not currently or has been over last decade treated correctly, i.e more focus and target on the actual root cause Insulin Resistance, as priority and not the sugars, his reply was " "Yes"

An example, that with knowledge gained and read, this allowed, I seek ask questions on that knowledge, whether it was correct or not, to clarify, by asking my doctor direct, hopefully info on this forum, generally, may allow others to gain knowledge and use whatever they feel worthwhile, and if in doubt, ask their Doctors to clarify any info that may prove useful or beneficial to obtain information, that may not normally be provided unless asked?

Interesting @pollensa . I read your posts and think of my mother who has gone to her reward over 25 years ago now. She was diagnosed n her late 60's as T2 and the advise she was given, to me today, is horrifying. I only wish i knew then, what i know now, i could have been so much more helpful to her. She died a few days before the dividing factor of cutting off her toe's.:(. The advise back then was eat well plate. I still think of her suffering today as back then i was young and raising a family-of 6 children and never really took notice. Shame on me.:(

Oh so sorry. Great shame, as I feel politics and other may come into the equation sometimes, may be treatments out there, need permission? worldwide information may not be as welcoming forthcoming as one would like or hope sadly, my Docs view answer may not be that of other professionals, keep that on board, it would be welcoming if there was without doubt more indepth knowledge given time of diagnosing, and after, during from the so called experts and professionals without one have to make researches, and ask questions, I am a great believer in anything, albeit whatever it is if in doubt, ask a question, whether it is booking a holiday, or medical, whether its one question or 100, to get it right. Again, very sad to hear.

Got the app. Wow what a brilliant tool.

Today got my lowest reading yet of 7.3 before meals. If you had asked me 7 days ago when diagnosed with a BG of 18 I wouldn’t have thought it possible!

I don’t miss any of the garbage I’ve been putting into my body.

Long way to go yet but what a boost!

It also reduces how much glocose is made by our liver from the protain we eat.
