Hello
I have been prediabetic for 5 years. Despite losing 2 stone I never managed to get below 43 HbA1c but with various tactics maintained at that.
In January this year I had a reading of 46. A bit scary but I put it down to post Christmas and work stress.
However I lost control over the period between Jan and Sept, gained around 9lbs, drank too much and didn't exercise as often. I had an HbA1c test and it was 49.
Around 3 weeks before the test I found support from a diabetes reversal network and was digesting and starting to put in to practice items in a regular newsletter from them.
The doctors told me to make an appointment with a diabetic nurse but also to have a second test to confirm the first.
That test scared me and with support from the network founder I committed to doing all I could to improve my number.
4 weeks after my first test my second test was 41.
The nurse had never seen such a drop and neither had her colleague.
It is still sinking in that technically I am not even prediabetic
My work will continue until my next test in March as I want that number lower and now know what to do.
It can be done
