Type of diabetes
Type 2
Hi does anyone else have this problem. Mine is getting worse. I have had it 10 years but only diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 years ago. Has been in my family for last 6 generations.

Is their any new treatments or cures for this?

Thanks Linda

I have.
I've been T1 for 20 years and have had this for around 4 years.
Unfortunately I've tried different creams, lotions and dermatologists and nothing worked. The next step after that for me was steroid injections into the patch.
I haven't had it done yet because I got pregnant just before treatment was about to start.

I've been told you can prevent it from getting worse by tightening up on control but I don't know how true this is.

It's strange that you got diagnosed with this 10 years ago but only got diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago as only diabetics can get this!

Also, as far as I'm aware it isn't genetic and is only caused by diabetes mellitus.

Sorry I can't help you anymore than this :(

No a high proportion of sufferers are diabetic but it is not exlusive to diabetics.

".NLD usually occurs more often in people with diabetes, in people with a family history of diabetes or a tendency to get diabetes. Still, the exact cause of NLD in not known. A similar condition that is often confused with NLD is granuloma annulare. Similar to the association of NLD and diabetes, it appears that a high percentage of persons with disseminated granuloma annulare have diabetes mellitus."

Very interesting!

Every doctor I've seen about it have all said its always diabetes related. I didn't realise other people could get it!
