Hi everyone I'm new to the forum well i have been lurking since May. Have been taking 4 ×500 metformin a day as Hba1c was very high 146 at diagnosis it's now down to 39 so dr halved the metformin. Have noticed numbers rising from middle 5 to middle 6 is this normal my diet hasn't changed . Will this level out. I will be glad of any advise from this very helpful forum.

I was on the same dosage but mine was reduced by just one. I am hoping that I can reduce it by one more at my next review. I saw no difference in my bg with this change. You must remember that Metformin has only a slight effect on bg, it is prescribed more to protect the organs, help with reducing the effect of liver dumps and as a mild appetite suppressant. Hope this helps.

You have made amazing progress with your glucose/insulin control. Congratulations.

If you don't experience any major side effects from metformin, I don't see any hurry in getting off it...

Thank you Kokhongw I hear what your saying about the metformin I have been ok taking it so will give it a little time then talk to the dr again thank you for your reply .

I asked the same question a few weeks ago when my Metformin was reduced. My numbers went up with no change of diet. People here advised that I wait and watch. Things seem to be settling back now. Hopefully you will have a similar experience.

Thank you for that I thought I'd seen the question asked but couldn't find the thread. I will just wait and see then.
