Hello there I know it's silly but I'm pregent and I'm.under tite control as type 1 and trying to make love to my partner and it's so sore I have been to doctors and they gave me a cream has any of u lady's found this a problem they think it's yest but I'm not 100% sure I know I have not got a sti so just wondering if anyone has any ideas I can try thank you

Hi there, yes I have had this problem. It's usually a fungal infection (yeast, thrush) - the bugs are on our skin all the time anyway, but if our body gets out of balance the number of bugs can grow and we get an infection. Thrush is common in pregnancy even without diabetes. Any kind of diabetes can make it more likely.

The cream is often the best treatment and it can work fairly quickly but if you still have pain or discomfort please go back to the doctor to see what else can be done.

If it's not a fungal infection it could be something else, which often is easily treated too. I'm not talking about STIs but irritation or infections of other types. I've had those irritations too. Any problems "down there" can be very painful and stressful.

Congrats on your pregnancy, by the way!

Thank you for that it's been a month and bit since we did it last and that's when I fall pregent and tried twice but both times it's been so painfull he dus make sure I'm okay tho x

Congratulations on your pregnancy and tight diabetic control. Another thing to consider is that your partner should be treated for thrush at the same time or you’ll just pass it back and forth between you. You can buy Canesten (clotrimazole) cream over the counter at a pharmacy, if he’s not comfortable asking the dr. If it doesn’t clear soon I suggest you go back to your GP.

Keep an eye on it if it is Thrush, before I was diagnosed I suffered a year of it on and off and that while using the cream and pessaries. It only cleared completely after I brought my bg down toward normal levels.
As has been said, Thrush is very common during pregnancy even for non Diabetics so keep on top of it and finish all courses of treatment for it.

Congratulations on your impending new arrival, what a joyous time!
