Everything bar water/diet drinks ( I think!) will put your blood sugar up. Meat will put it up by likely less than a yoghurt.
Meat is protein (watch the processed ****, full of sugar and other rubbish though as you say, you prepare your own) so eat away,
Cheese has few carbs in it though appreciate the dairy issues
Nuts are ok depending on the nuts - i favour macademias and brazil nuts
Eggs are fine
Some people can tolerate oat cakes, peanut butter, Burgen bread is best of the bunch,
Fruit wise - berries are my favourite
Lots veg - watch the roots (carrots, parsnips, potatoes)
In all, CARBOHYDRATES are what you need to pay regard to. Fast carbs - sugar, bread, sweets, are all obvious but all carbs turn to glucose in your blood
Re Fergus point - your GP is clearly an ***@@!. Bananas are healthy, they are full or potassium and good source of nutrients BUT they dont do good things to me and other diabetics have said the same
Do you test bg? its the best way to find out what does things to you
