Need some advice/opinions please

Apologies for the delay in responding, I've had some complications with my knee surgery. In short my knee swelled up hugely over a couple of days, I couldn't weight bear and was in agony all the time. Cue a couple of trips to A&E as advised by NHS 111, where I was sent home again with a packet of codeine(!) and advised to see my GP, saw my (furious) GP who phoned the Orthopaedic SHO and sent me straight back to the hospital. The Ortho SHO did some investigation, aspirated my knee and discovered it was blood, so 2 massive needles, and nearly 500ml of blood later I was admitted on to a ward!

Obviously my BG has been all over the place (when I've been bothered to test), so I'll carry this test on when things have settled down a bit.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties, semiphonic. I am new around here, and to diabetes, but I wonder if stress may have something to do with your results pre surgery?

Regards,

Carol

Ok, I'm not going to do this every day as I don't want to clog up everyone's inbox (unless I'm asked to). But. Yesterday's (Tuesday's) results are -
I'm still recovering from knee surgery so I'm not doing much but....
Woke up at around 8:15, put the telly on and watched it for a bit, got up at around 10:15, did my ablutions then went downstairs , made a coffee (black) and tested my blood - 6.2mmol/L
Had 2 slices of white toast with clover (no butter in the house), tested 2 hours later and was 7.8
I skipped lunch
Was going to the first darts match of the new season and thought I might have a couple of beers, so for tea I had (and I'm not joking) -
5 bacon
3 Lorne sausage
3 Black Pudding
(all grilled)
4 Hash Browns (cooked in the oven)
3 desert spoons of baked beans
And 2 slices of toast (Hovis Best of Both)
My BG was 6.1 pre prandial
Tested again about 1.5 hours after, and I was at 7.2
I hobbled (on my crutches) to where we were playing (about a mile away), and tested when I got there which was exactly 2 hours later, and I was at 7.8
I didn't have a couple of beers, I just drank diet coke.
I then got lower until I checked just before bed and I was at 5.1

Today I woke up, had a coffee (black) and got going, I tested and was 5.5 mmol/L
For breakfast I had 5 bacon (grilled) with 2 slices of toast (Hovis, soft white) and tested EXACTLY 2 hours later and I was at 5 mmol/L

I haven't eaten since breakfast today, I'm going to check my BG now - it's 5.8mmol/L

Haha, I've now had a packet of cheese and onion crisps and 2 curly wurlys (don't judge me!) I'm now at 8.8......
