I would like some advice please. The stress of the death of a close family member (mother) has affected my health and I must admit my diet is a bit off the rails at the moment (type 2 diabetes). I am trying to get back on track and motivation is low but I am trying....I know stress also affects diabetes and I have been in a stressful job but in the process of changing job roles. Can anyone give suggestions...especially for motivation? I am a positive person but feel absolutely shattered at present.

First up rutter1, so sorry for your loss. My condolences .... sincerely.

What motivates you might not work for anyone else but I'm sure your mum would want you to carry on. In your own head, dedicate what you do to her, make every mile / meal count, think of the good times and keep your own counsel if that is what helps. You are on a journey, no less and no more arduous than others. Set your targets, talk to her and treat her ambitions for you as if they were your own. Dig deep and I wish you well

My best Mike

Hi, @rutter1p So sorry for the loss of your Mum.
We all have different ways when dealing with bereavement. You will grief in your own time while coping with daily life.
You will always be strong in order to honor your Mums memories.
Your diabetes will eventually get back on track,
I hope the new job change (role) is to your preference.
Roy.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I wonder if some counselling would help with both the bereavement and the stress as it is hard to dig deep when we're running on empty. Obviously being off track with your diabetes won't be helping matters so maybe make a list of the necessary changes you need to make and try and tackle one at a time. If you have been overdoing the carbs make a decision to reduce them today and give your body the best chance of healing itself and your mind. Wishing you well.
