needed urgently Accuchek ACTIVE monitor

Hi there, i am posting on behalf of my Aunty who is 85 and almost blind.
when i visited her at the weekend her monitor was not working, and i have tried to get another for her but apparently the Accucheck Active has been discontinued. I rang the Roche helpline who were unable to supply us with an Active Meter and were very unhelpful , they just didnt understand my aunties concerns about trying to get just to another type of monitor.

As you can appreciate, my Aunty due to very very poor vision ( im amazed she can do what she does) is very reluctant to learn her way round a new monitor and i am wondering if any of you may be able to help?
Perhaps you have a working Accuchek Active monitor that you no longer use?
If you have we would be most grateful, and i would compensate on postage.

Sorry to hear about your aunty's monitor. Sorry I don't have one of those. This is probably a dumb question but have you already tried to replace the battery?

There's one here on ebay india - http://onlineshop.rnib.org.uk/display_i ... 0&it=1&l=3 - it says they ship to India but maybe if you emailed them they would consider shipping over here.

ps. I know you said your aunty doesn't want to learn a new monitor but have you looked at the talking glucose monitors for the blind - they are free and you can get the strips put on repeat prescription.

I mentioned the speaking monitor and she said it cost £60 which she was very reluctant to pay, especially as she doesnt want the change of a new monitor, but thankyou i will check the rnib out and see if i can tempt her .. im not sure she is even registered blind :roll: honestly she is an amazing woman, she uses one of those magnifying light things and tries to get to the one part of her one eye that works to see.. but she doesnt "like to make a fuss" and so i dont think she is registered blind but i will check.

but in the meantime, if anyone has a spare accuchek active that would be great.
 
Saw somebody here is giving away a meter. Have a look around. Think it was hppmkr or something like that.

thanks dipsticky and HpprKM.. unfortunately at this stage in the game and with my Aunties disabilities she wants to stay with the same model of monitor.. Accuchek Active

and i can totally understand her reasons.. thanks for the offer tho
 
just a query,
if they no longer supply the monitor, do they still supply the strips?? :D
