Hi guys,

I have noticed something very bizarre. I have been on a "lower" carb diet for the past 8 weeks which is going pretty well, I'd say on average I consume around 80-100g of carbs per day (down from 300).

For the past 2 weeks my blood sugars have been creeping up for no apparent reason. I understand stress can increase this but i'm not a stressfull person, or anxious, i'd say i'm pretty much chilled. Other than the worry of my creeping sugar levels that is.

For example

I was taking 16 units of levirmir morning / evening, and around 8 units of novorapid in the morning, 8 for lunch and 10 for evening meal.

This week i've been taking on average 26 units of levirmir 8.30 morning /8.30 evening and increased all my doses around 4-5 units more, but i'm seriously NOT eating anymore carbs guys, it's really confusing me.

For example last night I had nothing to eat after 6pm. For dinner I had 12 units of novorapid, I ate around 36g of complex carbs, then had an apple 2 hours later. I then had my split levirmir injection at 8.30pm. My Blood sugars where around 7, I took my 25ml of Levirmir, had nothing at all other than water that evening, but woke up with bbmol levels of 7.6.
I realise my liver can release glucose at bursts all day long, but why am I having to force more insulin and getting worse results than that of a few weeks ago?

Thanks in advance guys.

Do you happen to have a link to the thread in question please? Searching for that term I found lots of other threads which talk about insulin working better on a lower carb diet. But little about it worsening?
Unless i'm not searching hard enough. Thanks in advance.

Serial 45,

I am sorry, I don't know how to do links. Scroll down the 'View Active Topics' on the Board index page, should be on first page.

Good luck!
