Needing more nova lately :(

Type of diabetes

I have just gone back to work after being diagnosed type 1 recently. I work away from home and I am finding my bloods are running higher. Also, I carb count and am needing double units of nova than I was at home. Anyone find stress in work makes them need to use more nova units. I gave also increased my lantus from 9 to 14 morning and night. Feeling confused...

I have had similar experiences with my bg readings being higher whilst I am not eating as much, I think it's the stress of work
 
its normal to expect a different behaviour when going back to work after a period of being off I would say.....

just after diagnosis there will be some small insulin production which will slowly decline as times goes by, its possible your recent change in daily activity has sped that process up.....alongside as you say, the additional stresses of the working day...
 
Diabetes is a cunning monkey! Just when you think you got it cracked the rules change! Stress definitely increase glucose levels - I never need worry about hypos when I'm driving! LMAO! Annoying or what!?

Bummer! Luckily I'm a housewife, so when I was diagnosed type 1 just under 2 years ago I was able to get a handle on this without added pressures of the workplace. Big respect to all of you who had to go through the learning curve on the wing!

I'm lucky. So far everybody has been supportive. Just a joke I posted on Facebook:

With some good friends:
Me: I am sometimes hypo unaware. If I faint, do you guys know what to do?
A: inject you with insulin!
Me: : O
B: no! no! Inject with sugar.
C: CPR!

Friends like that... Sure die.

LMAO! Ignorance is not always bliss, tinyfilosofer! My friend's son and his pal backpacked round the States for a couple of months a few years ago. His pal was fully briefed but a few beers and a missed meal later the pal was trying to inject insulin through the son's jeans! Luckily the paramedics arrived and sorted them out. Keep drip feeding the info - it's got to sink in eventually!

Many find they have different ratio requirements depending on whether it is a working day or not. So for you, a day where you are at home or not. Several units of change or doubling levels can easily occur I also find I need far more insulin over the winter months than the summer. Diabetes is a douchebag,
