I’ve received a call this afternoon to go for tests and to see a consultant about something to do with cupping of the discs in my eyes and slightly high pressure in both eyes? I’m guessing that this may be something linked to Glaucoma etc. But wondered if any one else had experienced this and what the next steps would be?

I’ve got to for tests and see a consultant next month.

TIA

I know my optician checks my eye pressure when I have my eyes tested every 2 years for my glasses. .

Something must have triggered the request. Was it from your gp?

Disc cupping can be a sign of glaucoma. On the other hand, it could be just the way you're made (physiological cupping). People with higher eye pressures are more at risk of glaucoma but not everyone with a raised pressure gets it. You need follow-up tests and if, glaucoma is suspected, you may be just monitored or you may be offered treatment (usually eye drops) plus monitoring.
