Needle failure

Hi, good morning.

I understand what your saying.

What I’ve discovered is sometimes the screw on needle doesn’t pierce the rubber membrane on the cartridge. (Or fully go through.)
This can sometimes push the needle out making a 4mm look closer to 5?
Pending on the needle brand..

One tome happened to mine the rubber didnt pierce properly no liquid in test when I took the needle off there was a balloon like swelling on the pen. I po[ped it and threw the pen and needle away no idea what caused that

Absolutely agree.
Several years ago my GP surgery changed my brand of 4mm needle to save money.
I cannot recall the brand but they were poor quality and had several issues so i asked if i could go back to the original ones.
They obliged and have been using the nanopass ones ever since and if i have an issue when priming it tends to be the novopen mechanism as it doesn't seem to like low dosage jabs like one or half a unit of insulin.
I could be wrong and it could be the needle itself.......

Every so often after 1 unit of novorapid i question whether the insulin has been injected when my levels keep rising so i then pop another unit in and wonder whether i needed 2 to begin with......lol lol lol or am i resistant?
I then begin to disappear up my own doodar lol.

I sometimes think i'm a theoretical absurdity which is a lovely expression from Doctor Who.....

Guys. The needle is basically a tube sharp at both the ends. (Or should be.)
The plastic screw should hold this needle firmly in place.

When this fails its as if a needle wasn't fitted in the first place..?

Yes I thought this. Did two unsuccessful shots then just ditched it. Replacement fine. I remember having one such incident before in the middle of the night. Luckily I do switch my phone light on to check.
