Needle Free Injections

Hi Stephen, Just to let you know mate the smallest needles are BD micro fine 5mm, my 9 yr old son uses them 3 times a day. For the needle phobic, there is also a pen device on the market aimed at kids which delivers the insulin like an invisible jab, ie you don't see the needle its shot into the skin when you press the pen to deliver the insulin, then pull it out.So the only time you see the needle is after the injection. It works well , but to be honest id rather see the needle going in rather than being surprised!!!! :o
Take care

I was put on insulin just over 8 weeks ago. Like you, I was very apprehensive on injecting by needle, so persuaded by diabetic team to prescribe me an SQ pen. (I'm a gadget freak and loved the idea of a pressure based injection, just like Star Trek has been using for 30 years!).

WHAT?! :o Why have I not heard of this? I must investigate further.

Because surely it'll be less damaging than needles.

And ... cause I'm a trekkie.

There are still obvious supply problems with the SQ pen. I've been waiting since June for one, although I did get a call from my pharmacy last week saying they hope to have it for me in two more weeks.

Yes, I'll beleive it when I see it!

(I'm almost in need of some counselling therapy from Deanna Troi - reference for Star Trek fans only!)

Still, it's a start mate. Think I'll be bringing this up next time I see my consultant.

P.S. Real starships don't have counsellors. :P

Moving on...

wait til you see the speed the insulin comes out of it at lol!!!

mine took months and that was a year ago!!! I didnt try it cos bottled! Needles are much nicer looking!
