Have been trying to get bloods done for a couple of months at the primary care unit at the 'local' hospistal no no avail.

Yesterday's trip to the dr's surgery (as the hospistal refused re-refering back to the drs). Night vs Day difference was so so much better, the nurse listened and not once chastised over the length of time it took. Wasn't given what felt like ultimations do you want it done or not nor did she try and rush complaining about other patients to attend to. I still ended up hyperventalating alittle bit but no where near as bad as the last several tries at the hospistal. Can't believe the difference between the 2 locations. I was booked in as the last patient before lunch with a 30 minute slot, ran a little over by 20 odd minutes. feel sorry for taking up part of her lunchbreak she was very reassuring letting me know it was ok she had known it may of taken longer than exepected and had a packed lunch with her.

I've managed the toujeo jags daily alongside novarapid, still making a few mistakes, couple of times especially recently tummy is a little tender needle in ouch, sorta move too quick so needle out and having to try again i'm a little bit bruised around the injection sites area and still require 2 hands to push the needle in it must look weird and i know is silly. Before being diagnosed I would of never believed that I would be able to do 1 injection per day never mind the 4+ that I have been doing.

I've changed my diet a lot alongside forcing myself to move around a lot more (even though pain). waiting on double lumbar fusion op. Also have returned to swimming fairly regularly which is less sore than walking around.

Insulin after discharged from hospital 18 units toujeo, 6 novarapid with meals. down to 16 toujeo and carb counting now started with 1:10 ratio couple of months ago now 1:15, apparently that means i'm in the honeymoon phase. too early to file for the divorce :p

Anyhow i've been refreshing mydiabetesmyway religiously from a couple of hours after yesterdays sample being collected, lost count on times refreshed the page, over the moon with the results which appeared a very short time ago especially compared with prior results. Hopeful that i wont let things slip back into DKA. Got a little bit of confidence in starting to try sort out some of my other health issues which i know needs done, eg blood in stools :(

forgot to add libre2 estimated a1c: 41 mmol/mol (data spans 90 of 90 days) compared to Hba1c: 46 mmol/mol (6.4%) not too far out :)

Congratulations both on dealing with the blood taking experience - your nurse sounds like a superstar - and you've also clearly come a long way yourself too in managing your health. Stunning hba1c reduction in such a short time. Well done on your results.

cheers very much, i'm on insulin though so it would be unfair to compare to non insulin reduction. Very pleased with the dr's surgery nurse was so much better than the staff up at the 'local' hospital. She was more patient than the staff at the acute receiving ward too when was admitted with something else (which is not fixed nor checked (mostly my fault) that was when they found out diabetic and keytone levels exceptionally high DKA. Night vs Day really is understatement, I'm sure the staff at the dr's will enjoy the box of biscuits dropping off to the surgery shortly with a small box of chocolates just for that nurse :)

Very well done to you. It's so much better when you get someone with a more helping and kind attitude.
