Nephropathy despite perfect blood sugars

Hello all!
I have LADA since 2018. I am on keto almost since the beginning. My labs always ware fine, my last HBA1C was 4,7. My endo is claiming that i'm still honeymooning (after 5 years). There are days that i'm not using insulin at all, and frankly, these days are more common now, so it seems it's getting better. But my yesterday's labs were different - EGFR >60 (it was always perfect >90). For 4 months I had some issues, I go to the bathroom all the time, I have a full bladder feeling, sometimes I pee very small amounts. Is it possible that my kidneys are getting worse, despite my perfetc blood sugars?

Go to your GP and get an ultrasound done. That is a good way of knowing what is going on. I have just gone through something similar. I am peeing copious amounts of dilute pee. It was like clear water. I had an ultrasound done on my kidneys and bladder. Found out it was nothing to do with my kidneys but one of the valves in my bladder. So I'm being referred to an urologist. I am glad I took my concerns to my GP. I would strongly suggest you go to your GP. (Edited for an additional sentence)
 
Thanks Melgar, I surely will do some consultations with my doctor. But anyway, I am worry about the EGFR score.

Could be anything, so do see your doc. For me, kidney function temporarily declined when I had my bigger kidneystones still in situ, and tiny little bits of "ureum sediment" were irritating the bladder wall, making me feel like I had to pee al the time, while I didn't. Stress can trigger bladder cramping, a urinary infection can give the same symptoms, some medication can, too (like methylphenidate, as I found out a few weeks ago)... Like I said, a lot of different things could be going on, the bulk of which could be helped some in the interim, by flushing your kidneys through by drinking loads of water. If your bladder is problematiclly painful at night, try a hot water bottle to sooth the full feeling some. Hopefully that can tide you over a little until you're seen.

All mine have been >90 during the past 7 years, except once in 2019, when it was 87. So apparently some variation is possible.

Whatever the cause of this, please make an appointment with your GP. Apparently something is wrong and you'll want that checked out.
 
Hello! To everyone who's worried about the lower EGFR score. In Poland, where I live - probably in the whole EU - since October 2023, there are new laboratory guidelines, that require to give the specific number result of EGFR test, only when it's below 60. So, to my knowlege, everything above 60 will always be >60. This is a bit missleading, because 60 is not a good number. It's like your blood sugar meter would show only >100.

If I were you just would get that test repeated. Ig could just be an anomaly, or you could have been dehydrated. Go see your Dr and get it done again?

Its apparently because the test is less accurate over 60 to give a specific number.
 
Thanks everyone for the support. Regarding my numbers, my GP claims that there's nothing to be worry about. I'm going to see the urologist anyway.
