I was diagnosed a month ago I am on metformin xr, I have been getting lot of muscle weakness and nerve pain in legs, anyone else had this? I'm not sure if it's diabetes or something separate my glucose on nurses accu reader was 14 when first diagnosed and was 8 last week

Hi. Nerve pain/problems can be quite common with diabetes. All you can do is to keep the blood sugar down to near normal and trust that the nerve problems will fade. I assume you aren't taking statins which for some can cause these sorts of side effects and if so should be stopped for a while to check that they are the cause. BTW do get hold of you own meter as it's important for all of us to monitor our blood sugar.

For weeks I have had good control of blood glucose watch what I eat exercise regularly but for the past few days I have had extreme nerve pain down my arms hands and feet I'm ok in the morning but soons I eat breakfast then take my metformin the nerve pain starts withing the hour could it be the metformin or could it my b12 levels
