Thanks Matt,

I'm still trying to work my way through this. The pain isn't bad normally, it's more annoying really - being kept awake by nerves tingling and my leg jumping. And then constant tingling in other placs probably serves as a reminder of what's going on that I'm struggling with mentally. It does occasionally get bad, I guess I have to work thisout over time. My mental health going into this wasn't in a great place, so antidepressants are probably a good idea. I think my doctor figured if they help with pain as well then there's a double benefit. If I'm being realistic, my challenges are probably more mental than physical, sso I'd be interested to hear how people deal with that side of things.

Longer-term, I'm interested in finding other solutions. I've been trying CBD oil and that seems to make a difference. But it's hard to tell as it comes and goes so quickly anyway. Any idea
I’ve been reading your posts about your search for answers regarding symptoms that caused you to initially suspect neuropathy. So, it seems like things have settled down for you, is that right?

I’m 23 years now with t1 and most of the time considered in good control, but I’ve had some foot tingling and numbness lately. It stated in my right and went to the left ever so slightly. This happened after I had a sharp decline in my A1c in a 3 month period. I also lost 42 pounds, started physical therapy for right torn meniscus ( torn 2 yrs ago) and ITBS and also began daily workouts at the gym. My primary referred me to a Neurologist. I look forward to getting a proper evaluation.

Could you recount what your symptoms were? And, how they have now responded?

I have experienced the pain in feet after my sharp decline of A1c over 6-8 weeks. Neurologist diagnosed me with Treatment Induced Neuropathy. Not widely known, but it is a thing. Also known as TIND and Insulin Neuritis.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll look into it. I haven’t had any pain….just tingling and light numbness. I can still feel a pin that’s pressed on the botton of my foot. Also, it varies. Sometimes, it’s barely noticeable. Then, it’ll return. It’s weird.

Oh, I also had tingling in my hands at night. It would wake me up, one hand at a time. It didn’t if i wore wrist braces. My primary checked me for carpal tunnel, but I don’t have it. I hold my phone and ipad a lot….puts strain on my hands and wrists…..not sure if the cause, Probably, neuropathy.

May I ask what is the test for carpal tunnel?

Sure. In his office, he had me press my hands together and hold for so many seconds. It’s supposed to trigger the nerve sensation. He did a couple of tests. Here’s a link that describes them. I didn‘t have a positive reaction.

Wearing the wrists brace does help stop the pain at night.

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
I find I only get carpal tunnel now if I have way too much salt in my diet. Or something had a wee bit too much salt. I take a cranberry supplement and to help with wee infections which are now a rarity, but it also helps me not retain water.
