It sounds like you have neuropathy of the nerve that supplies the muscles that move the eyes. Normally the movement of the eyes is coordinated so the images from each eye combine to form a single image. With this type of neuropathy the movement isn't co-ordinated and the brain sees the images from each eye separately giving double vision. As the problem is coordination between the eyes, there is no problem when looking through one eye at a time.I am a male,68 & with diabetes 2. It's never been a problem in the 10 years I've had it. BUT 4 weeks ago my eyes started seeing everything in double, near or far. So frustrating! I cannot legally drive anymore is one of the negative effects. Two eye doctors say it's a paralysed eye nerve that will from 6 weeks to 6 months heal itself naturally. So they gave me no treatment. Are they right in their opinion?
It was all supposed to have started because my blood pressure was too high, as was my blood sugar levels plus a bit of stress.I never felt any pain & the eyes gradually got worse & worse. I pray they will start to improve soon.
Anyone have any advice or opinions for me? Funnily enough sitting on my computer is no problem for my eyes.
I've tested both eyes individually & both are fine but when they're open at the same time then they will not combine to make things nice & sharp. The double vision makes me feel dizzy a lot of the time.

The usual advice is to control blood sugars better, stop smoking and cut down on alcohol.
Maybe my eye problems(double vision) are caused by the same problem you had with another condition. Any chance of you passing on that info to me please? It could be a useful help. Thanks.@ronniet. I had the same thing but mine was not caused by diabetes but another condition.
Some causes of double vision in both eyes listed here (about half way down the page):- http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Double-vision/Pages/Causes.aspxThank you for that advice. My blood sugar was always O.K...now & then a little too high. But I've never smoked in my life & hardly ever touch alcohol so surely another reason must be behind why I got double vision.
