Neuropathy - besides BG - anything else to do?

Could anyone suggest additional ways to help myself?

I am low-carbing and keeping my BGs lowish (never above 9 and usually 4-8). But my big toe is starting to go numb (about 2 weeks now) and there is some tingling developing along my instep this week.

Does anyone have further suggestions about how I keep this at bay?
- Would more exercise be beneficial?
- Would regular massage of the area help (or hinder?)
- Could it be something else and if so what might it be (so I can encourage the Drs not to categorise it as progression of the disease?)

Thanks for any suggestions - I'm feeling a bit jaded having worked hard at finding new meals, monitoring and documenting .... and the result is a worsening of things ... what am I missing - what haven't I read?

I was like to read some answers on this about how to deal with this so it doesn't get any worse

I cannot answer your question but I can say that smokers can suffer similar damage to diabetics where the extremities are concerned because the red blood cells carry carbon monoxide around the body instead of oxygen.

I am not making any accusations here but smokers get a double whammy when they have diabetes as well.

I get a like a burning in my lower legs and feet but when touch they are not hot or cold but it wakes me up in the middle of the night and it's not easy to get back to sleep
