Hello all
Last week whilist playign football i pulled my hamstring. It wasn't a full on pull just felt like an egg under the skin on my thigh, more of a minor strain. Well i strecthed it and played again on Wednesday and there was a very mild discomfort but nothing much more.
Well last night i repeatedly woke to a surging swell of pain in my thigh and calf and some tingling in my foot. Now i know it is probably all related to the injury but after reading about complications a lot more recently i am serioulsy worried that is is just the beginning of neuropathy! I have felt for a long time like my big toes on both feet are a little dead at the end and when i go snowboarding the cold makes it feel like my socks are scrunched up under my toes, but only when it is very cold. The pain is difficult to describe but when not pulsing it often feels like it has a dull ache sort of like there is a track of thicker fluid running through it. It does seem to get worse when i cross it or bend it but it much better when i walk or exercise.
I have been T1 for 21 years now and i am now 30yrs old. I am very healthy with an excellent diet, lots of exercise and pretty good control. I say pretty good as i am still working on it (who isn't?) but i take it seriously. The problem is that because i was T1 through adolescense i obvioulsy took some liberties. I wasn't the drink all night type, i've never drunk, but i didn't keep amazing control and my A1c was often 8-9 in my teens. I am now carb counting and my A1c is down to 7ish in the last 10 or so years and will be even better next test.
Yes this all sounds relatively minor but i can't help but worry for what i have in store. Can anyone advise as to whether this sounds like the early stages?
