Hi Hilary. I'm type 1, 44 yrs now. Looked after myself but have neuropathy in hands feet arms, an retinopathy why is this happened when I've looked after myself I am 57, thank you.

Asked by Anne on Facebook during the 7pm-8pm live chat with Dr Hilary Jones. Got a question? Ask it here.

With the best will in the world and good blood sugar control you cannot prevent all of the complications of diabetes at a microscopic arterial level. This interruption in the blood supply to nerves is very gradual and you must not blame yourself for this as clearly you have done all you can to minimise nerve damage and delay it as long as you have.

Poor Anne, on Facebook.

I wonder what her diet and HbA1c have been.
I wonder what dietary advice she has followed.
I wonder how she feels after that answer.
