I think I will ease off on the internet research for a while now as I'm beginning to scare myself.

This is an extract from a very old american report (25 years old), reproduced by the BMJ.
Extract:
Diabetic autonomic neuropathy appears to be associated with
iritis, suggesting that both may be due to immunological
damage. This might result from a cross reaction of insulin
antibodies and nerve growth factor. Future investigations of
these patients will examine these complex immunological
phenomena.

I'm trying to piece together the jigsaw of my recently ailing health. In the last few years I've had deterioration of my eyesight, kidney stones, iritis and confirmation of the HLA B27 gene.

Think I'm getting a little paranoid which will probably continue until I get my test results back next week.

Lay off the in depth research.....sometimes you just have to accept things......it will not change anything....just might help you understand. If that's what you really want. You can get too deep into things and as you say either confuse or more likely frighten yourself !!

Here is a link to a short BMJ article which suggests that there may be a link ??

Diabetic autonomic neuropathy and iritis: an association suggesting an immunological cause.
Extract:
The association of iritis (itself an immune disorder) with severe symptomatic autonomic neuropathy raises the possibility of an underlying immunological basis for autonomic neuropathy.

Will do cugila.

Just noticed the last line of your signature. I love Guiness too, or at least I did when I was drinking. I'm staying teetotal for the next month at least until I see what the GP says and how my BG reacts to my new healthy diet. I suspect my liver will be glad of the rest too.

I would have thought stout was packed with carbs; am I wrong (again)?

Draught Guinness has 18.7g carbs per Pint (568 mil).

I used to limit myself to 2 pints at a lunchtime 'session'.....37.4g carbs. I was able to handle that with little or no effect on my Bg levels.

We had a 'real' low carber here who was also like me. Not a problem. Sometimes just because it has carbs doesn't always mean it is bad for you. You need to drink a pint or two and test.....you will then know if you are like me.....or not !

Sad thing is I no longer touch any Alcohol, I can't whilst I am taking a particular trio of drugs. When my treatment ends I hope I can get back in the 'old routine ?' Till then.....it's just a memory. :(

No more takers on this thread.

Surely I'm not the only one on this forum with Iritus?

I know plenty of you suffer from neuropathy too, but does anyone else suffer from both?
