Preachy people, and being told what I can and can't eat
Hi all,

a question about the side affects. I'm type 2 and on insulin. My consultant made a passing remark that by controlling my sugar and diet that my neuropathy may be reversed, does anybody know if this is true.

I'm type 2 and very well controlled without drugs. Hba1c of 39.

My dr suspects neuropathy in my feet and siad in some cases it just happens no matter how well controlled you are.

I guess some cases are down to the luck of the draw.

I asked my consultant at the hospital yesterday if I would ever get rid of the pain in my leg and he said no we have got to find a drug to control it. I have been on a morphine based drug for 4 months and he keeps upping the dose the only thing it does is make me constipated I am now on 60 mg a day and he told me it can go up to 100 Ming if u can tolerate it .

Maybe at the beginning you can reverse it but my doctor here in Spain says the same not reversible. I follow a low carb diet blood sugars under control last blood test 42 but leg is getting worse !

I have gone from a HBA1C of 55 at diagnosis a year ago to 41 three months ago to 39 on New Years Eve.

I low carb and exercise a lot. My feet are getting worse and my Dr says the damage there now will be there forever and that basically things will get worse with time as diabetes is progressive.

He said due to the nature of the illness that i can do everything right and tick every box, but neuropathy may still result.

I don't let it get me down. i have good control and my feet still work, so i'm grateful.
