I posted this a couple of weeks ago but didn't see any responses. Just wondered if any members have found/discovered a cure for neuropathy - or at least something to releave the discomfort? I'm sure some who have had type 2 diabetes must have experienced it.

I suppose that if you are getting no responses then not too many people have cured it although I am pretty sure I have read that some low carbers have improved their neuropathy. I'm not helping am I?

I used to get a burning sensation in my feet when i was high, it was never diagnosed as neuropathy, probably because I was at a stage where you couldn't get me near a doctors surgery. But it was pretty much constant and worse when i went to bed, once I got my levels back under control, the burning did subside, I still get it a bit but it's nowhere near as prevalent.

So I wouldn't say it's cured but the symptoms are infrequent and.don't cause me any real discomfort.

It may also be due to the fact I spend most of my days standing up or walking.

I find that alpha lipoic acid helps with the pain and loss of sensation. In Germany is the prescribed of choice I believe. If you search there are some threads on here discussing forms of ala and dosage. Good luck with it.

Hi
I used to get really painful and tingling feet every night going to bed, during the night and getting up in the morning. My doctor and diabetic nurse treated it as if it was a complete mystery, but of course I now find out it is very common, which they must have known.
The good news is that, since getting my T2D under control, the neuropathy has pretty well gone away. Although the name implies it is the death of the nerves, I do believe they can recover if you tackle it early.

I haven´t read anywhere in this forum that anyone has found a cure, but some do claim that the R-Alpha lipoic acid has relieved them somewhat from the pains from neuropathy, and also many use gabapentin

I think the best one can do is to get ones levels of blood glucose really low like an HbA1c under 40 all the time to stop progression, and of cause remember to use ones body and protect ones feet and body from all kinds of adding enjuries.

some think that leaky intestines are the cause to inflamation all over in the body and that this inflamation is attributing to all the adding conditions in diabetes... also like neuropathy..

I don´t think there is much science behind yet... but maybe there could be something in it
here is some ideas if one wants to try to go the leaky gut healing direction : http://blog.kettleandfire.com/leaky-gut-supplements/

I'm pretty sure I replied to your original post, have a look back at it.
I'm taking ALA, vitamin b12 and vitamin b1 supplements and they have definitely improved my neuropathy.
