Neuropathy

Hi @sheila.hearn and welcome to the forums. Can I ask how long you've had diabetes and what type you have? Also, do you know what sort of blood sugars of hba1cs you've been running at? (Some people find tightening control helps?)

I agree with @Jo_the_boat that your doctor should be first port of call on this but are you sure that you do have neuropathy and not something else? (Again, your doctor will be able to advise on this.)

Lots of virtual hugs, I hope you find the symptoms easing soon.

Sorry I have not answered have had trouble finding these posts I am type. 2 my hba1c is in the mid 50sso I have been told but have not seen diabetic nurse in person for about 3 years been diabetic for about 15yrs

Hi Sheila
Sorry to hear about the neuropathy, I have 'non-diabetic' neuropathy but it is only mild and having discovered what caused it I manage it so it no longer get worse. In your case I'd expect reducing your blood sugar would prevent further damage, but yes you need to talk to the diabetic specialist at the GP surgery - they should be doing annual testing as a minimum anyway.

If you let us know which drugs you are on, if any, and how many carbs you eat in a typical day we can offer information about diets, etc. that can reduce your blood sugars.

(I am T2 but decided to reduce my blood sugar by going low carb, it's been very successful.)
