i'd be inclined to try for a referal for pain management clinic, which specielizes in pain relief, they can likely better than a regular gp type doctor possibly be able to prescribe something which could help with it. I take several pain meds for back pain... not neuropathy, cocktail pregabalin 300, co-codomal alonside recently added tramadol together. theres plently options which a pain management clinc would likely be able to come help you wish at least to improve matters. my sis who has other chronic pain takes oxycodone when her issue flares up (also not neuropathy). Hopefully you get some relief soon
thankyou for your reply its very hard im not even sure there is anything that can help for this i asked to be refured to a neurologist and they basically told me it can take a year and never referred me
i have tried pregablin , amitriptline and orderd stuff from amazon like creams and special socks
Hi @Jamietomkinson1990 I understand what your going through, not getting any sleep at nights is debilitating.Has anyone found anything that helps with neuropathy ?
i have been on so many different tablets and none of them help ,also tried the EMS doesn't help me unless im using the wrong one it seems like there is nothing they can do to help , my left foot and leg swell up everyday ,im moving around everyday i make sure im going to walks and i also have a exercise bike to use its alot worse if i am under a cover but this is everynight and day im in so much pain with it and have started to give upHi @Jamietomkinson1990 I understand what your going through, not getting any sleep at nights is debilitating.
I was prescribed Amitriptyline, to help me get some relief from neuropathy in my feet at nights and let me sleep. I fond it worked the tables made me drowsy enough to get to sleep and mask the pain enough to let me sleep through the night.
If you haven't tried them yet it might be worth asking your Doctor.
Full disclosure I stopped taking them as I did not like the side effect, feeling hungover the next day for a few hours in the mornings. I just don't like feeling hungover.
A couple of tips that help to lessen the pain on those evening you I cant get to sleep.
Get up and move around this helps blood flow to the legs and lessens the pain in my feet.
Get a couple of hours sleep in an arm chair instead of bed. Feet on the floor not raised, again this is to increase blood flow to the legs.
There are a few articles on the internet about the benefits of exercise in lessening the effects of neuropathy, what little I have gleamed from them is they are promoting increased circulation.
Have you tried using an Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) foot massager. I even use magnetic handwarmers, round ones to curl my toes around, to in crease circulation which helps lessen the pain.
A common side effect of my neuropathy is the feeling of ants itching or crawling over my hands the magnetic hand warmers help me so much that it takes that sensation away almost immediately. Heat increase circulation.
Sorry your having such a hard time of it just now.
