Neuropathy

Hi
I have just started to be treated for diabetic Neuropathy, my symptoms being stinging, tingling, burning and painful feet. My question is will this develop into the type of neuropathy that gives you no feeling in your feet, or am I stuck with these irritating symptoms forever unless I take my Pregablin tablets. My HBa1c average 7.0

If you don't keep your BS under control it will get worse, when my BS went high in Jan the symptoms got worse. Thankfully I got my BS back down and the neuropathy went back to how it was before the highs. As long as you keep the BS stable and low (within the acceptable range) you can slow the progression or hold it at bay.

You may find your foot team may put you on 6 monthly checks assuming you are on the standard yearly checks, to insure that it does not get worse and stabilises. I have been on 6 monthly obs for a couple of years and now get the full annual screening, with the 6 monthly check now being more of a check on the skin, like hard skin / cuts and any healing problems.

The symptoms can be treated by meds but once the damage has set in, for a while it becomes permanent and can't be undone. A friend who has it a lot worse than me, has it up to around his knee area and he's stuck with it.
 
Hi the pain your feeling is coming from deep within your nerves. It's surface pain that you might not be able to feel like if you cut your foot or banged it which is why it's very important to check your feet regularly. This may sound strange but you can have deep internal pain and also lack of feeling, numbness, etc.

Support is right I've had it for years , shooting pains, feeling like wrinkled socks between my toes all the time , and the rest but also can stand in water up to my knees and not know if its hot or cold on lots of meds but never got rid of the pains sorry , Keith.
