You deserve a medal, Carly, for even having the energy to write a post! As Sue says, there is help and support here, though not particularly from me, being somewhat of a newbie and only type 2. Welcome, anyway!

Hi,
Welcome to the site. I'm a mum of 3, with 2 children with type 1 (ages 4 & 6) diagnosed within a day of each other. I'm sure you will find this site extremely informative and supportive like I have.
Leggott.

well now i have wiped the tears away i will say thank you for being so kind to me.it made me cry(happy tears!) you are all so lovely!! :D maybe i can be of help to others as i seem to know quite alot about diabetes- wonder why that is! feels just like we are in it together now. :) having one with diabetes for 3 years i knew the signs in amber(diagnosed last month) however she had pre diabetes and no thirst-excessive urinating etc as she hadnt got that far. hospital thought i was nuts and said she had a urine infection.so glad i didnt believe them and stuck to my guns.why should she get reaaly ill with possible dka before anything was done? anyway, she has got diabetes and because it was "caught" early she is on quite a low dose and perfect control! that was my rant!! as for cole(5 yrs and on a pump) lets hope i can get his under control and to a hba1c of 7! thanks again and best wishes to all of you who kindly welcomed me!! ps i have a wonderful book by dr ragnar hanas called;TYPE 1 DIABETES in children, adolescents and young adults. i call it my diabetes bible-its fabulous.(just in case anyone wondered!!!
