New and very confused

I doubt it because whatever you use may contaminate the strip - hands need to be absolutely clean, well rinsed, and dry.

I am sorry you are having such unpleasant issues - when you did your previous tests did it hurt a lot. Is there a particular reason you are petrified, or is this a phobia you normally experience?
 
Hi, Yes it does hurt. I don't understand why im petrified I was like this year's ago had to do a few tests when I was pregnant and I couldn't do ended up giving in.

Have you got the lancet device on the right setting for you, and are you pricking the side of your finger rather than the pad?

I use the Fastclix lancet device (Accu-Chek) which is a pen that contains a plastic drum. Inside the drum are 6 lancets, but you can't see them and never have to touch them. You just remove the drum when it's empty and replace it. You put the end of the pen on your finger and press the top. It is very easy, and painless. I've never actually tried any other sort, but do have some that came with different meters. I haven't used them because they look like torture devices!
