Hi all,
I am a new boy to this site. I have been diagnosed with type 2 for around 12 years, and I have been on insulin for nearly two years. My main difficulty is diet, although not dramatically over weight, I could do with shedding a few kilo. Researching many sites and trying to work on a meal plan I cannot find a "template" for this. Does anyone know of site where I can find help for this?

there is no template i hope, a diet is whatever suits you and is sustainable, what works for one will not for the next,

what form of diet would you like help with? low carb, low fat, newcastle, raspberry, vege, paleo, etc etc ?
 
Or eating to your meter (if you have one).

yes I use a meter and secondly I have no idea of what diet would be most suitable. I just stay off sugar and processed food where possible. I eat some fruit, but not a lot as I also have Crones (too much fibre is not good). I try to balance a diet, eating mainly Weetabix / Shredded Wheat / porridge for breakfast, maybe a sandwich (something sensible) for lunch, and fish / meat for dinner. Dinner is usually with a salad, or small amount of potatoes. However now getting fairly bored with this menu and therefore looking for help !
I supposed looking for a "plan" in someway I hoped would give me guidance !!!
Average morning BM is 5 to 7 (I take slow release insulin before bed, and then rapid acting before each meal).
Any and all help would be most appreciated
 
Eating To Your meter means having a diet that enables your typical blood sugar readings 2 hours after a meal to be within a good range e.g. less than 8'ish mmol. This normally means keeping the carbs down enough to meet this level of readings. Using your own meter you can adjust the diet to have the 'correct' blood sugar for you. Reducing carbs will also enable you to reduce weight as well. So, many of us would say the template is a diet that contains plenty of protein, veg etc together will a sensibly low level of carbs and enough fat to meet you daily calorie needs when combined with the other foods
 
Thanks Diabell for explaining what 'eat to your meter means', I am finding mealtimes challenging too, having problems digesting vegetables and fruit, have to take Creon since having my Pancreatectomy and my
BG is very hard to control, the Surgeon said my diabetes will always be brittle. A CGM would be a godsend but I have never heard of anyone who has managed to get one on the NHS.
