Bolus/bolusing is the insulin that you take before food, so if your injecting before each meal your already on what they call a basal/bolus insulin regime:

I am a 20 year old male diagnosed yesterday with type 1 diabetes, I am now at home and wondering if they're is anything somebody like me could snack on. I am usually a huge snacker and eater in general and now I am lost for what to do. Please help I am losing my mind lol. Appreciated, thanks.

You will need to give insulin if you snack on anything that has a significant amount of carbohydrate in it, but there are many snacks you can eat that are low in carbohydrates and so you can get away with not giving insulin for it (as long as your sugar levels are normal), such as carrot sticks, eggs, avocado, meat and dairy etc. My dietician gave me a list of snacks that tells you how many carbohydrates are in things (so the ones that are high in carbs would most probably need an injection). I've attached the list, it's really useful, perhaps it will help you as well!

Hi!

I'm 23 and was diagnosed a couple of months ago and I used to be a massive snacker! Not sure if someone has mentioned this already (there's a lot of replies) but I love Digestive thins. They're so good. They do milk and dark chocolate and they're only around 3/3.5g of carb per biscuit. I find them good when I'm in the mood to snack and they don't affect my sugar much

Welcome to the forum @Stannewtype1. If you snack, remember count carbs! Try to avoid the sugary sweet treats that surround us every moment of every day. It is not easy, but what can we do.
