Hi I visited my dr this morning after a fasting blood test at LLoyds chemist yesterday which came back at 7.6. They refered me to my gp. I am getting up twice a night to visit the loo with a deal of urgency. I explained this to gp and he promptly wrote a prescription for antibiotics then wrote out blood test form for the hospital.

He wants sugar, LFT, cholesterol (this i know is high) Tryglycerol?? ldl/hdl and hba1c also C + E, does anybody know what the last one is please. as someone famously said "thats an armful". Will these tests constitute a dignosis or will i still need a GTT?

Thanks Tracey

Hi Tracy ,welcome to the forum, confusing isn't it? Are you sure the last one is C and E and not U and E?
U&E are Urea and Electrolytes which is a kidney function test.'Tryglycerol?? ldl/hdl' are all parts of the make up of Cholesterol.Hba1c is a 90 day indicator of the amount of glucose in your blood.
Have a look in this thread for more explanation on blood tests.

Hi Tracey

I'm afraid once you get the results of these tests back it is quite likely you will need to have a glucose tolerance test done. In the meantime read through this forum especially the low carb stuff and ask questions if you don't understand - someone will have an answer for you :)

Hi thanks for your welcome and replies. Just had a 2nd opinion on c & e and in def not u & e. I have looked on a site that details test codes and no sign of it there either. Tis going to be a ling journey i feel.
