Hi,

I have just received my new Contour next USB BG monitor, replacing my old faithful Aviva Nano.. trying to take more control after several years of HBA1c of 77 :-( anyway, dunno why, but I took a BG reading usint the new monitor and my monitor at the same time...New: 8.5 Old 7.6 waited 40 minutes and tried again.. new: 9.8 Old: 8.8...now I'm in a dilemma as to which is not telling me the truth... could it be the Nano? has it been lying to me all these years? does that explain the high HBA1C,?? does anyone have experience with the Contour Next USB? and it running higher or more accurate than other devices?? Would greatly welcome feed back as I am currently in the process of changing my prescription over for the new stock!

Many thanks guys

Welcome to the forum @dazwalshe:)

Have you recently done a control solution test on your Nano meter to test the accuracy? TBH I'd be inclined to go with the Next meter readings, but you have to keep in mind that you rarely get the same bg reading twice in a row, bg meters can be out by +/-15% so you always have to keep this in mind.

For the first time ever tbh, yeah I dropped the solution on to the nano (high and low) and it told me 2.3 and 16.4 so I assume this is whats it meant to do?? I agree with what your saying, as I was shocked to see the differences I then did 2 readings on the nano in quick succession (less than a min) what do I get... 8.2 and 7.6... am really beginning to wonder if the last 4 years have almost been a lie ! when I think my BG is say 7-8 constantly and then the HBA1C says nope! so maybe, just maybe....its not my fault...
and thanks for the welcome..as you can gather Ive started looking at this site (and others) for the first time after 15 years of rubbish readings... and side affects now beginning to surface (nothing too drastic at the moment) touch wood...

Your welcome @dazwalshe, just have a good read around (especially the type 1 forum) and if you have any questions then do come back and ask, there's some really great people on the forum who are only too willing to help and support new members like yourself.

Best wishes.
