Hi everyone, I tested positive for COVID on dec 14th , it turned out to have devastating effects on my body and along with long COVID a blood test showed I had type two diabetes, and left ventricular atrophy .I was commenced on metformin twice daily and from 18 my blood sugars have reduced to 11 but they have not reduced further the past few weeks. I contacted the medical practice but was informed the diabetic nurse is still not seeing anyone and that it will be up to my GP to carry out bloods. I will continue to research and see how it goes with diet change in addition to meds but I feel a bit out there on my own at the moment .
Hi mate
I hear that anguish in your post .
Deffo how I felt at first .
Just awful the effect Covid had on You, then to be told you've heart issue & diabetic ......double whammy .
Could you, if happy to, say what other meds you take.?
This T2D can be a detective novel at times
Except in our case it's usually, the "FOOD" wot did it, guv..
To help others help more
Can you say what your diet is like now.?
What foods you currently eat.
How often you eat in a day.
What snacks, if any ?
Unless your lucky and advice has moved in, the DN won't be much help foodwise
For me , this was a total revamp of how I'd eaten for decades and ignoring all the 'expert' I'd EVER heard over the years
It's a lot to learn & take in
But a lot can be achieved, just by dumping some of the bad habits we have gotten used to over many, many years.
Ask questions.
None will be as dumb as not asking ..trust me.
I asked dozens.
All answered no matter how obvious they must have seemed, in a friendly way, that got me back to much more normal figures in weeks .
Good luck
