Hi All,
Just been given the diagnosis my HbA1C tests were 104 and 107. Needless to say I am both devistated and very confused.

My symptoms presented themselfs as severe weight loss (2st), Loose stools, and thirst which at the time I assumed was post covid related. No other warning triggers like frequent urination etc. Not really sure what type yet buy had the tests for GAD and C Peptides.

Also a referral to Gastroentronology to check all that. Feeling both worried and guilty, im 47 not entirely active but I am not a suger fiend either. Yes a bit of a dad bod; right now I hope I can turn this around. Been given insulin to get my levels down..

Hi @JimSteele , welcome to the forum and to the club no one wants to join.

Looks like they are checking you for T1, which makes sense with weightloss and a sudden high hba1c, very glad they don't just put you on the T2 pile based on age and a dad bod.

Whatever type you turn out to have, guilt shouldn't come in. T2 is mostly genetics, including a tendency to be fatter, but you only mention a dad bod which is perfectly normal at 47. T1 is pure bad luck.

Whichever type you have, please try to leave unjustified feelings of guilt behind and focus on how to manage your diabetes!
I've been in for 10 years now (two of those misdiagnosed as a T2) and I hope you'll quickly find your way too!
