Hi All,
Hope you are all having a good weekend so far
Recently diagnosed, I was given the Glucomen LX plus meter.
Seemed ok to me being a newbie but after seeing the nurse at my GP surgery she said it was more or less useless.
I was advised to ask for the Accuchek aviva expert.
As i am carb counting she said that it would make things much easier for me as my current meter only tells me blood glucose levels and nothing else.
If i ask my DSN when i see her in clinic (Tuesday) will she be able to change my meters over?
Also what do you guys think about different meters and is the Accuchek Aviva expert a good idea for me?

Thanks in advance

They should do, just mention to them that your gp surgery recommended you change over to the Expert.

I have a GlucoMen LX Plus but only use it for ketone testing (and I don't do that very often) so can't really comment on what your nurse said.

I have had many meters over my many years of being T1 and I think it all boils down to personal choice and what you personally comfortable with,I'm sorry this is probably not much help to you.

I think it depends on what your looking for and what suits you . I have the Accu-check expert meter for around a year now as it was recommended by my team to switch to that. It is great for working out you insulin doses based on the carbohydrates - once you programme the settings and ratios in it works really well.
It also has reminders and alarms if required , as well as health options to hep you with exercise , stress and illness .
But ask about several meters and advice from your team and they should be able to help you on your decision.:)
