Hi everyone, i'm new here but not new to diabetes. I'm 47 and have had diabetes for what seems a long time, since i was diagnosed at 29 and i've not been the best at control so i'm looking for advice on how to clean up my act and get my blood control better and generally get healthier and committed to some kind of healthy regime.

I am interested in the raw food way and i've dabbled but not fully committed yet as i've found the fruits tend to put up the blood sugar but the vegetables keep it down, i'm no expert yet but want to incorporate more vegetables and raw stuff in my life and cut out the bad.

I'd love to find the holy grail of reversing type 1 diabetes and i have read many online stories about drugs and diets that claim to do it but without any real evidence but i'm still searching and the journey continues.

I have some questions about my HbA1c that was high :( and so will be posting it up to get any advice from those who can interpret all those numbers. I have finally accepted that i have this condition and wish to fight it the best way i can and help others on the way.

Anyway, hope to see you round.

Hi and welcome. I think you could search for a very long time to find something that will reverse T1; perhaps one day. What you can do thru low-carbing is to reduce weight and the amount of insulin you need.

Timber dog? never heard of that. Will be back after looking him up.

Welcome to the club. It's amazing the authorised diets we trustingly try before discovering the secret of managing our diabetes. Stick around and you'll learn about low carbs, higher fat.
Post your HbA1c numbers asap.

Hi and welcome,

Low carb is the way to go if you want to control your blood sugar levels. Raw vegetables are good. Fruit isn't, as you have discovered. What else do you or don't you eat, and what is your A1c?

If there was a way to cure or reverse Type 1, there wouldn't be any Type 1's on this forum. No such thing I'm afraid, but you can reduce your insulin requirements if you get tight control by diet.

I want one. where do we get them?
They are big dogs that eat big too and need a lot of walking that's why i got one to get me out and about to exercise more, if your really interested start at britishtimberdog.org.uk they have very different personalities to other dogs so don't jump in too fast unless you know what your getting into :)

Tx i will be posting my A1c on the Type 1 diabetes board hopefully for some insight if you would like to wander over when ive managed to scan it in.

I went to the web site and none of them are nearly as cute as yours.
