Hi . Can anyone tell me what I should do I was told I'm prediabetic about a week ago. I am feeling unwell tonight with feeling sick and faint. This the second night it's happened. I am confused about diabetes. Appointment to be seeing Dr on the 16 June but think I should go tomorrow if possible.
 
Don't panic. Try to eat light and eat healthy. Do some exercise, even if only walking. As well as avoiding sugar you should cut down on your carbs as much as you can. The good news is that you haven't got diabetes yet and you have all to play for. The best piece of advice I give you - and this is golden - if you are overweight, lose it as fast as you can. All the damage is reversible at the moment. Bring forward your appointment with the GP - it will make you feel better by stopping worrying.

I had symptoms of nausea, feeling faint etc in the months before I was diagnosed as diabetic. YOU have no time to waste.
1) get cracking on a diabetes style diet - plenty of info on this site - but basically cut right down on all sugars - including fruit sugars - trust me - in your situation - orange juice is unhealthy.
2) Get exercising - nothing strenuous - most T2 on here advocate walking for maybe 30-40 minutes a day - if necessary - build up to it - but make it a daily habit
3) start learning from this site - look at what others do and join in.

I'm not a doctor.
Qualification: T2 Oct 15. Metformin, diet and exercise. I treadmill and stationary bike for 40 mins every morning and in the evening I do the same again or go to the gym (powerlifting - it's my thing) 6 stone lost and 10 inches off the waisteline.

Downside: I can walk into a room and smell sugar and chocolate in the same way a non smoker can smell smoke, but I don't care .....most of the time.

Good luck - it's a journey, but there's plenty of good company
