New(ish) pump user - leaking cannula?

I‘vehad my t Slim device for several months now and things seemed to be going ok. Lately though, I seem to be having a lot of leaking around my cannula which is very frustrating. Initially, I thought it might be a bad batch but had them changed. Still getting leaks! Seems to be after larger bolus doses but my pump is already set to give a bolus slowly. Any other tips? I’m using Autosoft 90 currently - would changing the angle or switching to a metal cannula help? Anybody have experience of metal cannulas? My fear is that they might be less comfortable - I’m already getting a bit of a rash with my G6 sensor so less irritation would be preferable.

Some people like metal cannulas, other people find them uncomfortable. It's worth trying them to see if they're better for you. You could also try splitting larger boluses into smaller doses to see if that helps.

In terms of the rash with the G6 sensor, you could try using Cavilon barrier spray prior to inserting the sensor.

Thank you. I will give your suggestions a try and see.

I had exactly the same problem and switched to the angled cannulas. I have not had the problem since. They are good because you can see if the cannula is in properly or not as they are longer and obviously angled.

Thank you. I’m going to discuss with my diabetologist and see if I can try a different cannula.

Is there a longer/deeper cannula available? I currently have a Medtronic and had a lot of leakage (I also have large boluses) with the 6mm ones, then I switched to the 9mm ones and it's much better. I'm not sure what options there are for the Autosoft but it's worth asking.
