New Medication help

Evening all, been a while since I have been on here and to be honest I have let diabetes treatment slip a bit. So the doctor has put me on some new medication which when I was first told about and then when I had my meeting with my diabetic nurse I felt OK about. I have been put on Trulicity 1.5mg per week, I picked up my prescription today and set about reading the information sheet that came with.

When I had my meeting with the diabetic nurse last Friday she warned me that there was a possibility a bit of Nausea for the first few weeks (1 in 10 chance). What I was not told or ready for was the rest of the possible side affect, vomiting, Diarrhea and abdominal pains. If that was all then I would be prepared to try it, but the worst side affect is possible Hypoglycaemia if taken with Metaformin which is a risk of 1 in 10 being affected. I take 2 x 750mg slow release per day.

Does anybody else take this medication or has anybody else taken it and found the side affects to bad to continue, I would be interested to hear your comments.

Tim, there have been a number of threads relating to Trulicity, so a search could be useful as a starting point.

I've never taken the medication, but a 10% chance of a side-effect essentially suggests 90% don't experience that side effect. It depends if you focus on the 10 or the 90, but realistically you will never know which camp you would be in without trying it.

If additional meds are being suggested, it suggests your control had drifted a bit, so if you were to reject this drug, what would your Plan B in that instance?

Hi Tim, I have been on Trulicity for about 6 months. I am also on Metformin and recently started using insulin. In the first couple of weeks I had a couple of minor stomach cramps, but nothing serious. I had no other side effects. Found it to helpful with BG control. Hope it works for you

Thanks for the insight guys, I guess I have to bite the bullet and try it for myself, think tomorrow will be injection day :(
